Most Online Universities and Colleges have their own awards that you can qualify for. This can really help in solidifying your decision on which institution to go with.
Some have entrance awards that are typically awarded to prospective students that exhibit accomplishments through academic or some other form in a theme fitting the award.
Common areas of achievement would be entrepreneurship, leadership, volunteering, conflict management, overcoming adversity, etc…
Often you will need to submit an application form and a one page report (see the institutions guidelines) highlighting your accomplishment(s). For guidance in this area you should contact the admissions office and they will refer you to the right person that can outline the various entrance awards. This should be done before your studies begin.
Upon completion of the program you may also receive either awards or bursaries. While some are selected by the faculty based on their impressions, other awards need to be applied for by yourself. Usually the applications are during your study and in some cases after graduation again check with the person responsible for finances for clarification.
In some instances the awards are for specific programs such as a Masters Degree, a Phd or a Bachelors Degree.
